if the fuel leak gets into the aquifer that it sits above it will poison the drinking water for the largest city in the state, probably for over 1 million people.
that would mean the largest mass exodus from an isolated island chain in history.
this could get really bad/interesting.
my guess is that they'd cover it up and let people just get cancer and die from their water instead of admitting it and having to evacuate like 1 million people.
People are getting chemical burns in their mouths from drinking the water, it's past the point of being able to cover up now.
And that taint will linger for generations IF they are actively cleaning it up.
