Same, I'm forced to assume everyone with Molyneux as a surname is a dumpster fire of a human being.
One of my favorite anti-capitalist games is universal paperclips because it starts as a button smashing version of that cookie clicker game, and by the late game, you are managing artificial intelligence sent out to other planets to make more paper clips while managing unpopular opinion against your paperclip empire.
But Peter Molyneux only chances into making good games (fable 1 and 2 are some of my legit favorite games growing up) instead of purposely making GOOD games.
Molyneux is the master of pitching an out-of-this-world crazy idea for a game and delivering a marginally-above-average product.
Black & White was glitchy as hell and totally underdelivered, but it did exist and it was a fun riff on city-builder strategy.
Don't all his games suck lol
Edit: The Movies (2005) was pretty good, but had some issues making the mid to late game annoying.
His early stuff was pretty dope. Populous and Black & White pretty much made the god-sim genre.
Fable was his downfall, got too popular. Nobody wanted to check him or his wild lies anymore.
The fable games are probably the games I’ve been hit with nostalgia goggles the hardest. I have good memories of playing them as a kid/teen but every time Ive tried to play them as an adult I bounce off them so hard
They were definitely of-the-moment games. A cut above their peers, but otherwise a pretty boilerplate heroic choose-your-own-adventure game.
Fable was garbage with its shitty combat and bullshit promises from this loser. Black & White was fun.
