Thinking about how isolated the seats of power are from the problems that affect "the masses". Living in DC, we've been almost completely immune from the supply chain disruptions, for example. We're seeing inflation here, but otherwise, life goes on. I can still get rare goods from Zanzibar or whatever, or get my pointless crap delivered within two days. Even with all the problems USPS has been having for years, my mail still arrives promptly. And this sort of shit makes it even that much harder for all the politicians and executives that live here to really understand the problems people are facing.

Go to Walmart.com and add groceries you would buy.
Then keep selecting the different Walmarts around the country, like you would be picking up the groceries there.
In some places, it is mighty grim. I don't eat that fancy, but in some rural areas especially about 20-30% of the items are out of stock.
