I had a choir teacher with a dude browsing reddit in the back who wasn't able to confront him for some reason. He would just passively go on these spiels about how if you distract yourself from what you're doing, you cultivate a split consciousness and lose the ability to focus properly.

Kind of yeah. Don't know if this is a normal thing, but I've always had what I call a multi-core brain. Multiple internal voices that I could control simultaneously as a kid. Honestly, very similar to shroom brain if that makes sense. As I've gotten older, I have a lot less control over them, so I have like one I control and a few that pop up intermittently to delete or insert thoughts.
