      Unlike healthcare & housing, keeping the treat machine flowing keeps surplus value flowing in the direction of capitalists. A healthy, housed populace only means reduced leverage over the generators of surplus value. If other countries were allowed to develop peacefully, there'd be no cheap treats to distract from the piss poor healthcare & housing.
