It's Friday, Friday. Gotta get down on Friday.

I love how one of the selling points of my phone (which was all the smart "AI" crap, one of which being the ability to transcribe a recording) completely falls apart the moment it's not an American talking directly into the microphone.... I don't think it's actually understood anything I've tried to use it for, even in person and very clear discussions. But my favourites are trying to record train announcements:

"Now arriving at Berwick [Berrick]" > "now I'm riding ash ferric"

"Next [unintelligible] is Narre Warren station " > "best mattresses marijuana station"

    "Berwick [Berrick]" > "Spheric"

And bonus from Sydney: "Saint Peters" became "simp penis"

Train announcements are pretty garbled on good days though? But yeah voice recognition is still pretty bad - struggle with it in my car. Have to try and americanise what I’m saying.

I always used to think "automatic transcription is hard, mistakes are inevitable" until I realised even the most noisy mumbly country-accented American speech gets transcribed basically perfectly on YouTube and other places.

Lol that's my new favourite video.... All mine could understand was "11" and what the lift was saying

        Here's how that turned out:

        Speaker 1 00:02 What's

Speaker 2 00:04 The buttons? Hello, then, sold voice recognition technology in us the helmets. Voice

Speaker 3 00:10 Recognition technology. And left. And swollen. Ever tried voice recognition, technology. You know, they're going to Scottish accents.

        Speaker 2 00:26 11. 11. 11.

Speaker 3 00:33 Could you please repeat that?

        Speaker 2 00:36 11. This idea was us. 11.

Speaker 2 01:59 This is a voice activated elevator please state which floor, you would like to go to in a clear and calm manner.

Speaker 3 02:08 Was that common fit? Why is it telling people to be, calm? Because i knew they say, honesty Scottish people would be gone out for months. You have not selected a floor.

Finally, I can see these on Lemmy.ml again. I think the federation issues were stopping any posts from coming over. Good to have this back!

Really enjoying the cooler weather. Unfriendly reminder that loft beds only sound like a good idea and that you're in for a world of suck if you can't get air circulating up there.

    Rocked my interview this morning.

I'm gonna hate telling them I won't be accepting the role.

Two more interviews lined up next week. Today's was good practice.

Fixed term with no chance for an extension. If I take it, I'll be looking again in 6 months time.

The advert said 18 months, but that was incorrect.

That's on them, then. They advertised 18 months, and then bait-and-switched you to 6. They can't be surprised if that doesn't work for you.

I'm happy to get the interview practice though. I've got more interview lined up with that department so having a bit of a confidence boost goes a long way.

I have been banned from Reddit. 1st time with my seagoon, 4th time including all reddit accounts

apparently calling out hate speech and racist lies is now abuse

But I am not surprised, the troll armies have been brigading on other sites to get posts and people banned

On the r/Melbourne or a different sub? r/Melbourne is dogshit at the moment, so many trolls and right-wing nutjobs crawling all over it.

There's probably a bunch of lurkers who never made accounts. It's like reading r/australia, you just can't comment.

They can't be stealing content from the little guys. But really I don't give a shit. 😂

I reckon there's a few lurkers though that just don't know how to navigate lemmy.

I have the best news ever! My local Coles, which is a 5 minute stagger down the road is getting one of those 10c deposit bottle thingos. I just need to borrow a trolley now and I'm laughing. Today keeps getting better and better. 👍

I was at the Coles deli today and the young lass stuck the barcode to her shirt and then couldn't get it off so I said to her with a straight face "just don't try to walk out of here because the gates won't open". She then laughed so hard she really couldn't get it off.

I'm going to bed, I'm stuck in hell,
One more day 'til my knock-off bell.
Worked long days and slept short nights,
Tonight I'll fly high like Franklin's kite.

Put a fork in me, I'm done,
    I've forgotten everything fun,
Brain clocked out before I've begun,
Oh remind me: what is fun?

Please lay me down gently, I've done my best,
Let the blacks of my eyelids put me to rest.
    I was so naive to believe that life was a test;
This universe is chaos, we're just stuck in its mess.
