Pretty speechless.

Apparently there was a delayed response time and no suspect has been named meaning there will most likely never be one. Probably an off duty cop.

That apartment is in Southside Houston, I’d be surprised if it’s not “the ghetto”.

So there’s criminalized activity everywhere; ghettos are giant informal economies. And for a variety of historical reasons, people in ghettos tend to have especially strong connections with other members of their community. So everyone there is probably 1 or 2 degrees removed from someone hustling, maximum.

So, I dunno. Could have been a pig, could just be life in a settler colony working exactly as intended

I will say, I saw some interviews with people from the area (some people from the Yellowstone neighborhood), since Covid started. One guy in particular (Al-D) talked about how the 80s and 90s were a golden era for drugs, you could actually sell pounds of stuff and make some good money (or die, go to jail, etc). But nowadays, according to him, that’s not how the drug game works any more. It’s just desperate people with literal machine guns fighting over practically nothing; there’s not even drugs like that any more.

It’s just a tragedy all around

Not really, he seems to have been a rapper in the 90s and did some petty crime, a lot of which seems to be sus in terms of actual evidence. He spent the last few years of his life helping out a mission and posting anti-violence content for teens. He seems to have been an ok guy with some drug and generalised capitalism issues.
