    That apartment is in Southside Houston, I’d be surprised if it’s not “the ghetto”.

    So there’s criminalized activity everywhere; ghettos are giant informal economies. And for a variety of historical reasons, people in ghettos tend to have especially strong connections with other members of their community. So everyone there is probably 1 or 2 degrees removed from someone hustling, maximum.

    So, I dunno. Could have been a pig, could just be life in a settler colony working exactly as intended

    I will say, I saw some interviews with people from the area (some people from the Yellowstone neighborhood), since Covid started. One guy in particular (Al-D) talked about how the 80s and 90s were a golden era for drugs, you could actually sell pounds of stuff and make some good money (or die, go to jail, etc). But nowadays, according to him, that’s not how the drug game works any more. It’s just desperate people with literal machine guns fighting over practically nothing; there’s not even drugs like that any more.

    It’s just a tragedy all around
