    Okay this is something I can weigh on [advice only relevant for people with access to banking and some kind of existing savings]

    Taking your money and "putting it in a couple different places" is a very bad idea if you're thinking of keeping it in a soooper seeecret spot around the house or under ur mattress. My mother lost $10k that way because a drug addicted family member was looking for anything to get a fix. And, because it was hidden, she wasn't able to report when she lost it or otherwise gather evidence for law enforcement reasons on what happened. It just went poof, and that bastard got their fix for a long time.

    Most of your money should be in a damn bank. Don't fall prey to gold bug ancap shit about needing things physically around you, or needing physical possession of significant amounts of money at all times, or "not trusting a bank" out of pure Great Depression sensibilities. If banks fail, there's the FDIC that will insure any loss that is under $250,000. If the fucking FDIC fails, there's no use for the dollar because the republic would have fallen.
