"The cost of bringing in a falconry person is actually fairly high long term, and here we are mainly talking about a $20 solution and some staff time, to have a pilot program to try to resolve the problem," Klein explained.

"We know you're overworked already in the kitchen and serving tables, but instead of bringing in an expert we now expect you to take twenty minutes out of your day to point this laser pointer at the crows to try and make them go away."

the city is taking a note from nearby Silicon Valley and going high-tech with lasers.

The mayor got the idea from a friend who has been using a green laser to disperse birds squawking in his yard.

lol holy shit they try to make it sound like a high tech solution but it's literally just some shit a guy came up with in his backyard.

This history of science is filled with idle rich weirdos just fucking around in their massive country gardens because they were the only people at the time who could afford to do so. For a brief period of history the modern state-subsidised low-fee or no-fee university existed to give this chance to anyone who could stomach a decade of grad school. But now that those are all gone and replaced by the neoliberal idea of universities as lern-2-code training schools, we have gone right back to rich assholes fucking about in their yards again.

The system of percussion caps, which ultimately led to modern self-contained ammunition, came from a guy who was pissed that birds took off when he lit his powder and it made them hard to hit.

I'm having to trick so many rich people and their estates into thinking I might be profitable. Thank you notes to donors is the most insipid disgusting thing I've ever had to do. It's humiliating what students have to do to get scholarships.

"After dealing with thousands of crows roosting in downtown, Sunnyvale, California, for years" so what's the problem exactly? Sounds like these Californians should just quite being pussies and learn to tolerate nature a little, as they have done in previous years.

Californians demand a completely sterilized environment. That's why they're so keen on going to Mars.
