Microsoft to buy Activision Blizzard in $68.7 billion deal
finance.yahoo.comMicrosoft's offer of $95 per share is at a premium of 45% to Activision's Friday close. Shares of Activision were up nearly 38% at $65.39 before being halted for news. "Gaming is the most dynamic and exciting category in entertainment across all platforms today and will play a key role in the development of metaverse platforms," Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella said in a statement https://news.microsoft.com/2022/01/14/microsoft-to-acquire-activision-blizzard-to-bring-the-joy-and-community-of-gaming-to-everyone-across-every-device.
i mean the purchase is a bad thing for everyone that's not microsoft/activision management but at least if activision goes under after being bought by microsoft it's a net win for the rest of humanity (obv if activision workers manage to unionize that changes this)
it probably has completely fucked the unionization effort, but maybe one last big shot at PR spotlight will let them do something cool before it's over, considering the giant whirlwind of shit microsoft just purchased and will want to immediately start sweeping under the rug
I wonder if the unionization effort is the reason for the selling.
