"Gaming is the most dynamic and exciting category in entertainment across all platforms today and will play a key role in the development of metaverse platforms," Microsoft Chief Executive Officer Satya Nadella said in a statement https://news.microsoft.com/2022/01/14/microsoft-to-acquire-activision-blizzard-to-bring-the-joy-and-community-of-gaming-to-everyone-across-every-device.
I feel like supporting Java is due to many of the really big youtube people run Java. Minecraft would have never been anything without that community. It still heavily relies on them. I don't think microsoft wants to chance them moving on or just never moving on to new patches lol.
Either way it shows more willingness to work within the community more then anything Activision Blizzard has done.
