Just saw someone say they're tired of being forced to pretend Lynch is any good (which was clearly just a set up to go "oh look getting harassed by the lynch bros again"). Let's see how what we can cook up.

To start: movies with any sort of abstraction or nonlinear storytelling are bad because they make you question what is real, which is a form of gaslighting

Unironically sometimes, yeah. I know plenty a few film students who made watching German films a big part of their personality brand. And I’m sure that in terms of film, they had a deep appreciation of the craft and all that. But in terms of understanding German culture, not so much.

    Good bait btw, I bit

i've met film nerds and they could, also like there are some good films i had to watch metropolis for an architecture class and it is fun like weird movie gets real close to arguing that there should be a revolution and the importance of labor but then BACKS DOWN into weird centrism. good sets though, they literally bankrupt themselves to make it

The old German silent movies are amazing. Faust, Metropolis, Nosferatu, all still amazing even today.

I think Revanche is a German film that is excellent.

        Oh, it's Austrian.
