I know very little about him but my strong hunch is that he went Hollywood and the money and fame went to his head. And then he started churning out shit because he didn't care or because he didn't even realize it was shit.
I'd love to see if he could get back on track. I hope he does something out of character like write and direct a serious and creepy sci-fi movie with a budget of a few million dollars.
