but haven't heard of Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, Colter Wall, Margo Price, or Justin Tones Earle
It's not niche, you're just exposed to pop country.
Pop country is a propaganda tool used to dull the genre, going back to the early 50's, because it was the musical voice of blacks and leftists early on.
Elvis as well as the Kingston trio were some of the greatest bits of US propaganda in our history is what I'm saying
Those artists are far from niche.
All I'm saying is people form an opinion on an entire genre of music based on whatever AI based artists are on the radio.
do you really have to get deep into a genre to find out you dont like it much? probably not.
You don’t have to get deep into it, but you should at least sample some examples of the genre that aren’t chud trash.
I like Orville Peck and The Highwaymen
I dont like American country music because 99%+ of the people who listen to it are chuds and the few bands that arent that also use the dope Nashville sound arent enough to make me say I like entire genre
country is folk for white supremacists :xi-lib-tears: listen to folk or bluegrass like a normal person
Yeah I've heard that :citations-needed: but they also talk about independent artists and non commercial artists and country origins talk about labor issues and the like.
im just saying some people's problem with country music isn't entirely about the tunes and artists
I feel like Bo Burnham’s take on country music is pretty good: https://youtu.be/y7im5LT09a0
every single person I've seen who claimed to hate country music, was white
probably unironic status signalling
not liking genre produced primarily for chuds
how is that any different from heavy metal though?
This is like saying you can't say you don't like black metal if you haven't heard of Demoncy or Kvist or Samael
Also highly recommend: Chris knight, Jason Isbell, electric magnolia company (Jason Molina I believe the writers name is), John Moreland, and turnpike troubadours.
I have a special hatred for country music because I was a child whose parents mostly listened to country in the period after 9/11
I still have that "We'll put a boot in your ass" song taking up valuable brain space
Old 97's are a great way to introduce people to country music. West Texas Teardrops, Nightclub, and Big Brown Eyes are awesome takes on country songs. They were also commissioned by King of the Hill to record a cover of El Paso by Marty Robbins. Its a dope cover.
If you like those artists, check out Bella White, Cat Clyde, and Nick Shoulders
also Sarah Shook and the Disarmers!! Also Croy and the Boys did a cool album of leftist punk covers
