Without knowing why a thing was chosen, "hmmm this would be cool as an ai rendering" aka human sensibility to separate signal from noise, ai art just gets muddier and uglier for training off itself.
Thing 2, say the monkey took a million tries to type Shakespeare, try number 999,999 would have also been gibberish. Whereas gpt 3 is better than got 1 etc. So it's less suddenly something that is upon us, more like we iterate up to it.

when something seems fishy I can believe it's usually because there was a bright red flag that any actual law enforcement agency would pick up. The coverup is to make the red flags look like 'nobody could have known'. If the public knew how little the CIA/FBI is actually able to do about crime, they'd want them reined in.
