I remember some study saying that people are able to read longer on tall displays because it requires less eye movement.
I'm no film person but I'm sure there are some unique opportunities to be found if you do some experimentation.
If anything, you'll probably find some unique things you can do with a vertical aspect ratio. Do what makes you happy though, that's what's important
