      IMO if nukes start landing in the US and Russia then it's all over for everyone on earth anyway. If something like 5% of the world's nuclear weapons were to go off that's enough fallout and nuclear winter to kill just about everyone on earth.

        Depends on the material. Active charcoal filters are necessary for radioactive gases but I think generally you'd be okay with P100 filters or equivalent.

        Note: in the event of a nuclear war we all die anyway so it doesn't really matter.
