But it doesn't always work like this though. Plenty of people in the global south are both malnourished and overweight or obese. I'll explain from my own context here, but it's usually because the only food we can afford are staple grains, stuff like mielie meal, and maybe some other staples like flour and sugar. And eat mostly that and nothing else. And because a lot of these staple foods are really calorie dense (there are over 800 calories in 1 cup of mielie meal) while being relatively cheap but lacking in overall nutrients, it is very possible to end up overweight, and even obese and malnourished. It's why the rural/urban divide between obesity rates is only a few percentage points, and countries with really high obesity rates can struggle with malnutrition and hunger.

Of course capitalist resource allocation is a major problem, and is a big reason behind food insecurity and massive inequalities between the imperial core and the global south, but poverty, hunger and malnutrition don't always look like that top picture in your post.

As long as your not shaming them for being fat, you're good. In a case like this fatshaming would just be like blaming the individual rather than the system. The imperial core makes the conditions that allow people to get addicted to bad food while stealing it away from the global south. A lib or a chud would blame the fat people and try to make them bootstrap themselves.

Sure, but first ask yourself what sort of ideology hopping on the current kiwifarms-style nikocado shame bandwagon will engender. He is not a Vaush, nor a Sargon, he is not pushing any sort of ideological message, just a sick individual who needs help. I dont think what he is doing is "Right" either per se, but neither is starting yet another moral panic, I just ignore it, nothing worth my time to care about.

Also I dont want to see any more fucking soycuck Nikocado shaming content. Every other youtube video on my recommended is fashoid "embrace masculinity, reject removed" memes with gigachad next to Nikocado in the thumbnail, even though I have made a point never to click on any Nikocado video since coming across the channel. This protestant mass social neurosis needs to die.

Honestly seeing shit like Nikocado along with antivaxx and the weirdass tw: mental illness

    spoiler

    eating disorder death cult forums/spaces

makes me redfash vuvuzela more and more

like why the fuck does anyone need to watch some guy basically kill himself with food, this isn't good for people lol, even moron Nazis could probably agree with that but so many people are wedded to the idea of freeze peach when so many of the things we see proliferating on social media are clearly causing harm both to the individuals that perpetuate that content and those who consume it

The problem then becomes: How do we make sure our evil communist dictatorship (this is a joke) doesn't just censor shit out of personal dislike? How would we determine what content is suitable for consumption without steering into some dangerously stifling censorship or leading the way into some weirdly curated "revisionism" of reality as it is?

because the vast majority of people watching the guy go at it are a bunch of guilt-ridden reactionaries/PMC libs who take great pleasure in indulging in their most "Self destructive" desires vicariously through Nikocado. Its great for them too because they have built a kiwifarms-style moral panic campaign to then exorcise themselves via casting their vitriolic protestant disdain towards Nikocado. He is now their mammon, an idol of sin to be torn down and burned, his deteriorating physical and mental health proof that the universe ultimately punishes evil and therefore makes sense to their small minds. Above all else, he is a public figure that they can feel morally superior to, despite their hidden guilt.

Honestly, just a proper public platform, with a new set of algorithims coded away from the grasp of the profit motive, would go a long way. This guy relies on car-accident-can't-look-away shock value, and I think we could select against that.

It's called Feederism or stuffing and it's disturbing and I've learned to unmatch guys who mention it.

This is one of those tricky ones. You leave no comment about body shaming, and it's easily inferred. You mention body shaming and it's a specific denial.

That said, it's a fucked up system that so severely affects someone's eating habits, that presents pressure to create this sort of content, and that attracts so much attention.

I don't blame them or other content creators for reacting to the toxicity of capitalism within internet spaces. Pictures like in this post really illustrate how fucked up capitalism can warp things.

Food addiction is an addiction like any other really. I've noticed that a common thread with all addicts is trauma that's unaddressed and makes them self-medicate over. It's a no-brainer, but it's 2022 and people out there still think addicts just do what they do for the hell of it.

I mean I'm not a doctor and this is my personal and anecdotal experience with most addicts having been in and out of the system for quite a while. When you think about, just life in the imperial core is a form of trauma in itself in a lot of ways too.

Yeah I can relate. I dealt with some traumatic shit today that I can't even talk about yet for reasons. I want to just be a peaceful guy, I'm not that other fuckin guy anymore but it keeps happening. We talk on here a lot about revolutions but I gotta tell you it doesn't feel good even the most justified use of force. It's never a good thing and it always causes psychic damage.

Look at troops and cops, violent reactionaries who get PTSD because of inflicting harm onto others, even if it gives them enjoyment in the moment. I don't think humans are hardwired to hurt and kill without some kind of remorse, but society teaches us to bury that shit. I even think the covid pandemic is going to leave a lot of people who were otherwise mentally healthy unwell, due to the sheer stress and misery of hearing about so many dead and sick.
