There are large gatherings the size of this festival every day in the US right now at professional sporting events and other xoncerts, I really don't see the point of calling out one music festival almost a yeat from now. Are we going to have a post for every NBA, major college basketball, NHL and NFL game? 2.5 million people rode the MTA on average every day last week, where does that rank on the superspreader scale? The government isn't going to help and people rely on these events to pay rent and feed their families. If you're lucky enough to have a job that allows you to work from home, good for you. Many people do not.
I mean, those things do rate real fucking high on my super spreader scale too. I legitimately get anxious when I'm reminded that sports are still happening and there is no aid in sight.
Are you seriously trying to sit here and say "the chuds go to the sports ball and the government hates us anyways so why can't I go relive my eyeliner days in peace?!??!!!??!!waaaaaaaaaaaa!!!"
you can just admit you're not actually worried about covid, you just want to feel superior to someone with different music taste than yours, there's no need to bend over backwards like this
I have severely immune compromised family members and personally I'd like to avoid the still-expanding laundry list of potentially permanent effects myself- that is if I were to get it and not be one of the unlucky people who dies even without comorbidities. But also get this! I actually truly don't want anyone else's loved ones to die because someone just HAD to see Avril Levigne in concert during a pandemic either. Seeing the very well-thought-out "b-but no treats FOREVER?" take on here of all places is just very disheartening. Even if you listen to Bright Eyes or whatever we can still be comrades though.
Yeah, to be clear, I'm on the side of don't go to concerts and sporting events right now, it's very much not worth getting sick or worse, getting someone else sick. So I'm with you. But your comment just came off as so very asshole-ish, I had to say something. That's all.

I haven't bought a ticket to anything, I'm actually one of the people who depends on events to put food on the table.

Are you actually ok?
I have no intention of going to that show. I'm saying people need to eat.
you can just admit your taste in music was stunted in like fifth grade, there's no need to bend over backwards like this

That's very reasonable. A jab at someone's music taste was all I could muster at the time, was going for smarmy but maybe I overshot.
All the best
I'm not going to that fest, I don't even like any of those bands. I said my gf bought tickets.
