It wasn't. The userbase flipping their shit is almost as bad as the mods doing the interview without consulting the community.

Fox news was never going to be sympathetic.

This would have blown over in a few days but they inexplicably chose to close the sub instead. I have no idea what the rationale there was.

it's ego of the mods closing ranks. they should have just had a mega-thread and some humility, but instead they self-destructed under pressure

From my experience being fairly active in their discord until I got banned for talking about how whitewashing the armed elements of the early twentieth century labor movement and civil rights movement are bad actually.

None of this surprises me at all. I didn't anticipate it being such a public implosion but it was clear it was a hostile place for anyone doing any sort of educating or agitating.

"But if we did that then our stupid idiot r----ed dumbass useless f----t community would come to the wrong conclusion! No. We know better. We'll decide for them. For their own good."

they were almost too sympathetic, the anchor was cringing and giving life advice and going easy. The worst thing you can be on the internet is pathetic.

They closed the sub because the mod is embarrassed and wants to ban everyone for talking about what a terrible job they did. Bannings made the shit talking get worse and they just shut it all down.
