Message discipline exists for a reason, and this whole event shows why you only let trained and knowledgeable experts who are accountable to the people through democratic centralism handle sensitive and important tasks like this. External censorship is good. You want to have a unified front. Internally, you discuss and talk through stuff, reach a consensus, and then everyone states that externally.
A group censoring who can speak for them is democratic because it prevents people from acting unilaterally and shit.
