Some cop who was killed responding to a domestic incident. But make no mistake, if you look at the eulogies and what they were saying, this is not a celebration of his life, this funeral is a threat. They're saying "do not hold us accountable".
We are not safe anymore, not even the members of the service. I know you were tired of these laws, especially the ones from the new DA, I hope he’s watching you speak through me right now.
I’m sure all of our blue family is tired too, but I promise, we promise that your death won’t be in vain. I love you until the end of time. We’ll take the watch from here.
:what-the-hell:
A direct threat to the District Attorney in the eulogy. They don't even have to pretend anymore.
From what I could gather from a quick search, they are threatening him because he said he would not push for pre-trial detention for non-violent crimes.
Edit: oh yeah, he's black, too. :unsus:
On January 4, he announced that his office would no longer prosecute low-level offenses such as fare evasion, resisting arrest, prostitution, or cannabis-related misdemeanors unless accompanied by a felony charge
goddamn this guy seems so much cooler than 99% of DAs
The MO for cops who have half-decent DAs is to go on a soft strike, where they still go to work, still get paid, but don't really respond to anything, and then blame the DA for being soft on crime when more and more violent criminals don't get caught. The same thing is happening in Philadelphia with DA Krasner.
