There are too many self-proclaimed "Marxist-Leninist" who have zero understanding of german idealism, and as a result the Marxism that naturally comes after.

"Hegel is so complicated and too hard for me to read so I will avoid it. " I can't believe there are people who have the audacity to call themselves Marxists and refuse to engage with its fundamental building blocks.

Reading theory is important. Reading your continental philosphers is incredibly valuable. Demanding people have an entire history of the past 150 years of the academy lodged in their head before they can be taken seriously is reductive and alienating.

No Marxism before you've defended your understanding of Russell and Whitehead before the OP!

I've never read Marx's Capital, but I've got the marks of capital all over my body.

you don't really need to read phenomenology of spirit to understand Marxism. Marx built upon and added his own stuff anyway. if you were like writing a theoretical analysis then sure it's a good idea but Marx/Engles intentionally explained themselves in a way so you didn't have to read Hegel. Maybe if you really like the dialectical method then you should read Hegel to learn more.

Why not boy aristotle? Or neo-platonism? Why not trying to understand how out there berkeley was? Maybe descartes?

Or, why not to expand your understanding further, and go in depth into theory of phlogiston? To appreciate modern chemistry and thermodynamics more? Maybe study aether as well? Or swing by humor theory of 4 liquids?

The philosophers have hitherto only interpreted the world in various ways, the point, however, is to change it.
