Infrastructure lol.
This is a very large city btw
"Now is the time to get out," Winston-Salem Fire Chief Trey Mayo said
Trey Mayo lol
The US during the course of the Cold War accidentally dropped multiple nukes on itself (none detonated) and multiple nukes on its allies (several detonated).
They have always been this fucking dumb
Yeah, I think that was the Goldsboro one.
There was a separate one in South Carolina in the late 50's though, which might be what you're thinking of
Somewhat related, I feel like maaaaaybe you're being a bit careless with your world ending weaponry when just keeping track of the amount of times you almost blew something off the map on accident is hard to keep track of
Hmmmmmmmm
Yeah no fucking hell this countries a god damned nightmare. Second use of nightmare in this post, first time on purpose.
yeah I know that. They also almost blew up the world because they mistook the moon for a Russian nuclear missile
especially since slavery was also bad for poor white labourers (not comparable to the slaves of course) as it meant economic competition with people who weren't paid
Advisory to not exercise for the city, as the chemicals in the air can cause irritation to the lungs throat and heart.
Cool country.
I'll be interested to see if there's a spike in covid deaths in the area after this actually
Thank you Joe for giving me the opportunity to be a background character in a far future well there's your problem episode
Very :rocz-yes: voice: “so at 4:16PM, the explosion killed jabrd…”
the people in lebanon do. it pretty much has destroyed their entire country.
Yeah, the yield would be somewhere around quarter to half of it based on napkin math and what all blows if it goes up, the nitrates only part of it. Can blow anytime between now and 36 hours according to the reports.
Air quality is shit too, 65 ppm nitrogen dioxide. 100 being where the olds start dieing outside
Between this and that bridge collapse America is rapidly accelerating its own collapse it seems.
It'll be fucking nuts if a chunk of this city craters lol
From a cursory google, the Beirut explosion was from closer to 3000 tons. If this thing goes up it will be terrible, but not quite as powerful as Beirut
Yeah quarter of the amount of nitrate, there's other things going on as well since the ammonium nitrate oxidizes everything and there's a lot to oxidize so it's hard to 1:1 math it but it won't be as bad. It'll still fucking suck tho.
Good news is they're actively evacuating people from the guessed blast and impact radius, which also didn't happen in Beirut.
Infrastructure disaster but hopefully not a casualties situation
Air quality is also a concern
There's a program that estimates the blast radius based on kilotons
....know what? Sure. That's why I needed it.
. >
<. <
Isn't that based on KTs of TNT? A quick search tells me that ammonium nitrate is 40% as powerful as TNT.
Ammonium nitrate is an oxidizer for everything else basically, so it depends on what else is around. There's a fuck load of fertilizer that can go up with it so actually estimating what can happens is difficult.
Big boom is the point, but yeah it's not an accurate way to figure this out
i tried ted, mk-ultra, kacynski, unabomber, but who how could i forget "a-guy" OF COURSE :youre-welcome:
Yes, if the ammonium nightmare goes up it oxidizes the rest with it
Edit: autocorrected nitrate to nightmare but it stays
A lot of that is smoldering at the moment as well though, so what will happen is anyone's guess.
Current forecast according to the news, not doing a bit, is "fairly high chance of explosion"
