all the lib and socdem imperialists were claiming she got disappeared by the Chinese government.

I’m sure all publications and individuals spreading that story will retract their statements.

You claim she's alive and well, but maybe China turned her into a newt.

Reminder that the media only pushed this story so heavily because it was the same week as the :maxwell: trial.

That shit wasn't a coincidence, they want people to forget what we know about the ruling class here in :amerikkka:.

she never claimed sexual assault. that's purely based on intentional mistranslations. assuming MSM is correct by default is a huge mistake. if she actually did make the claim, chinese citizens would be clamoring for justice. also, the cpc isn't the type to protect party members when they fuck up badly.

There was a post on reddit r tennis with an accurate translation but I can't find it right now, just a lot of propaganda posts.
Once you spend enough time digging into MSM claims about China, you'll start to assume that their claims are incorrect by default. Yeah, the fact that MSM lies about countries the US state department and CIA don't like doesn't really effect the life of the average American, But sometimes it does. They lie about other things. Fat being bad for you (eat lots of carbs), Omicron being mild, smoking is good for you, etc.

I like that comments are pushing back on the person that did a translation by saying "actually if you run it through google translate, you'll see..."

I feel really bad for her though. It sounds like what she's been through has been awful

it's literally the "white is right" trope. I actually do translation from traditional chinese to english as my job sometimes and all the translation websites are either useless or only moderately useful. Rarely can you ever take a sentence and magically have it translated to something usable.

Comments are a joke. Look at the guy saying that there are double standards. LOL. What? Based on the accurate translation, it would literally be a non-story in the US media.

I'd like to believe a story about manipulation like this would still gain traction anywhere, because it's not okay

What would you do if this was a politician in North America? You’d (rightfully) demand his firing and legal repercussions.

lol, does this guy even America? You'd be fast tracked to president.

Peng being alive and well is clearly evidence that the CCP has her family...or something like that.

There is literally no situation where westoids will believe that she wasn't disappeared by the evil commies. If she says nothing, that's proof that she was tortured. If she says anything at all, that's also proof that she was tortured. There is no possible situation in these people's minds that doesn't end with "China Bad."

I mean, she's right. The NYT literally mistranslated her and tried to turn an allegation about an affair that included power imbalances into something even worse, resulting in tons of Western outlets making it into a claim of assault.
