Seriously, they even mark out that the US blame it on a foreign power directing a sonic weapon to US embassy workers.

I may behind by just finding this out, but fuck that's funny. Could this be an elaborate troll by a fan? A viral marketing campaign for a Control DLC got out of hand?

The more prosaic truth us that the first "Havana syndrome" event got reported in 2016, so way before the game came out. An even more prosaic truth is that this scare is not new, and happened before, in the 70s, aka the Moscow Signal. The lore is deep is what I'm saying :)

Hey, why invent a new story when you can recycle an old red scare? Thanks for the heads up!

Part of what I like about Control is the degree of :illuminati: :cia: it evokes by way of hinting at real history.

It's funny and on a purely literary level it's a good, catchy story. Maybe that's why it's popular. I'd read a novel about it.

In a similar vein, I've been trying out the new Hitman series and I'm pretty sure the first mission is having me assassinate 'not_Jeff_Epstein' except he's Russian and 'not_Ghistlaine_Maxwell' and the resemblance is uncanny

The Hitman writers know their parapolitics and geopolitical history. Most of the characters and scenarios are mashups of real people and events.
