Rosa Parks, born on the 4th of February in 1913, was an American activist in the civil rights movement best known for her pivotal role in the Montgomery Bus Boycott. U.S. Congress has called her "the first lady of civil rights" and "the mother of the freedom movement".
Parks was not the first person to resist bus segregation in Montgomery, but the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) believed that she was the best candidate for seeing through a court challenge after her 1955 arrest for refusing to give up her bus seat for a white person.
According to historian Dr. Casey Nichols, following this arrest, Parks immediately contacted local NAACP president E.D. Nixon and informed him of her arrest. Within hours, the Women’s Political Council (WPC), formed in 1946 to address the grievances of black bus patrons in Montgomery, sprang into action, printing flyers, phoning potential supporters, and organizing carpools.
The boycott succeeded in 1957 after the Supreme Court declared bus segregation unconstitutional. Parks' act of defiance and the Montgomery bus boycott became important symbols of the movement, and she became an international icon of resistance to racial segregation.
After the boycott's conclusion, Parks moved to Detroit, Michigan and began working as an assistant to Detroit Congressman John Conyers. She has received numerous honors, including over 40 honorary degrees, the Medal of Freedom, the Congressional Gold Medal of Honor, and two NAACP image awards. In 2002, Parks produced a biographical film titled “The Rosa Parks Story.”

I’m like a stark except reversed.
Summer is coming, I say with fear and trepidation
I love summer nights. Fuck I want to live in a place that is warm/hot all year round
Lol, says a person who doesn’t. The thing about the cold is it’s a skill issue.
There is nothing you can do about heat except pray it cools down.
I have spent my youth in hot places, and I find it comfortable. I'm from the third world, but I currently reside in this frozen hellscape called the first world. I can handle temperatures up to 30 degrees Celsius with no problem, and I'm not some coddled American who needs air conditioning to handle that heat.
Mind you, I can deal with the cold, but it's not just that; it's dark all the time, and the sky is grey constantly. It's depressingly bleak.
The main reason I like warm nights is because you can be outside all night and chill or party. Its like eternal summer break. I guess Im also just more upbeat during summertime.
Then again, opinions on things like this vary greatly from person to person.
Heat kills at certain temps us humidity no matter what.
The cold is a skill issue, if you are even somewhat educated you can survive. There is no such thing g a s “cold wet bulb” if that make my point more apparent.
I wouldnt say homeless people dying during harsh winters is a "skill" issue. In 2019, cold temperatures killed nearly four times as many people as warm temperatures. Im just saying tons of people are killed by extreme weather either way.
With that said I never cared to make this about survivability. I was merely stating that I prefer warm weather and summers on a personal level.
