I’m being a little tongue in cheek when I say southern CT isn’t included but the southwestern quadrant of CT is basically a giant NYC suburb and more culturally aligned with the worst aspects of New York City than New England, it’s a vibe thing, the further east you go away from New York the less pronounced the effect.
It’s all driven by the routes of the MTA commuter rail and lower income taxes in CT, so basically all the reactionary finance bros live in Greenwich which is about as far out as you can go while still having a decent commute into the city
There was an active project to turn it into a libertarian state by migrating there. It never made it quite that far, but the politics have shifted a fair amount.
New England is CT, RI, MA, VT, NH (cringe) and ME
