    The book puts forward a capitalist peace theory, first published as an opinion piece in The New York Times in December 1996, called the Golden Arches Theory of Conflict Prevention; although slightly tongue-in-cheek, it states:

    No two countries that both had McDonald's had fought a war against each other since each got its McDonald's.

        Actually there was one. It got abandoned by the time the DPR declared indipendence and eventually some people made a bootleg McDonald's ("DonMak") in the same building
