I have yet to see evidence of Russia targeting civilians beyond the collateral damage that is an inevitable part of a conflict like this. War is bad but it doesn't have to be genocide
There have been incidents of tanks on both sides crushing occupied cars that I've seen , but they appear to me to be isolated. Far, far from knowledgable about what's actually going on though.
No one here is trolling, calm, calm. What has people upset is that they're dolling out guns and marching men off to die in a pitched battle here. Really, they should be allowed to evacuate, the government, go to the negotiating table, and let Russia take the areas it plans to take.
Really don't want to see people who had nothing to do with this lose their life, forced, by that fascist government. Imagine if Trump picked a fight with Russia and he fled the country but ordered all americans age 18-65 to take up arms on threat. Fuck no
Not wholecloth sadly. There is serious pressure and apparently prevention of men who are refusing to take up arms from leaving the country. It would be an escalation of the existing pressure
I didn't say it was the same thing, I am defending what the previous commenters said in that its not super unfounded to be doomer about that kind of thing. Retribution on supposed traitors is sadly common in most any conflict, and we are seeing civilians be openly expected to just become soldiers at the drop of a hat. The expectation of "duty" is there in full force.
People can express some worried doomerism and fears, I just don't think we should be too harsh about that
Ukrainians have the right to defend themselves. I’m just being realistic with the outcome. Guerrillas of the past were trained, this is an impromptu militia.

In a completely unwinnable one yes, it's just going to increase the loss of life.

Zelensky will fuck off to DC while ordering all citizens to launch suicide attacks.
Looking that way, shit's going south.
CW: Brutality
Only a matter of time before nazi lynch mobs summarily execute anybody not actively fighting the Russians for treason
Scary shit, history's repeating itself in real time.
except that's something you lads have just invented and theres nothing to say it has happened or will happen
I mean I'm getting the vibes here.
alright but like there's enough bad shit going on to be concerned about without making things up wholecloth.

disagree that nazi lynch mobs summarily executing people for treason is on the same continuum as a state pressganging men to fight in a war
not really an important disagreement I guess, either way there are no reports of it happening and let's hope it doesn't.

I didn't say you said it was the same thing, man. I don't think I was particularly harsh in what I said to the op, I hope I wasn't.
