It seems odd to attack Hakim for saying the very obvious. I actually agree with this guy that US / NATO provocation pushed Russia into a geopolitical corner. Putin and co. probably fear a repeat of the late 20th century, and felt they had no choice but to try and pre-empt further encirclement by forecefully eliminating the possiblity of Ukraine joining NATO.
But bruh, any war that isn't the protracted people's is still bad.
What happened in the late 20th century that you're referring to? Sorry, still trying to learn about the situation. One of the questions I've had is what's so bad about allowing encirclement? Is there a legit threat of Russia getting couped if nato encroached into Ukraine?
Coup? Probably not. Isolate and nuetralize? Sure. They get to try and contain an antagonistic world power that's been forging closer ties with China, and make a fortune doing so.

Is there really as strong of a desire from the west to coup the Russian federation as there was desire to coup the USSR?
Good points didn't consider the access to markets and blue water ports. But in the short run doesn't this hurt business since it'll cause sanctions?
