I feel the need to jump in and defend the last few seasons. You're not wrong that it had some VERY bad years after Season 5 (which was meant to be the original end of the show) but season 11 onwards has the show go to some really interesting places, and they're clearly building to a good ending with season 15.
Supernatural comes to mind. Everything after the armageddon plot suuuuucked.

huh, I'll check it out. But man the first 5 seasons told a really really good story on par with any urban fantasy I've read.
