    When I started writing I was absolutely dogshit at it. Reading back through my old stuff makes me want to cry.

    That's the feeling I'm chasing. Every time I hate something I've made, I know it's because I can do better now.

    Also, for writing specifically, just write literally anything. Narrate the walk you just took. Add ninjas and see what happens next, and what happens after that. Write fanfiction. Write nonfiction. Shitty poetry, parodies of better writers, whatever. The more words you get down and then edit and analyse and edit again, the more you learn. Writing well is a skill you mostly get by writing badly, and then picking your own work apart. The main thing is to keep going, and try to always be getting better, even if it's just a little bit.
