The last few times I've gone to the grocery store, the shelves have been pretty empty. And luckily I could give fuck all about the certain brands as long as I have food somehow, but I've been thinking about how screwed I'm going to be if the shortages increase even more with this whole russia/ukraine stuff
Gotta start gardening sooner or later I guess, but that's impossible when you don't own land
Everyone does unless you're a farmer. Nobody's out there growing all their calories unless they own substantial plots of land and spend a lot of time cultivating it.
Shit is getting super bad around me so I've gotta find a plan soon
It's ironic how I listened to the "it could happen here podcast" a couple years ago (with no serious thoughts about whether it could "really" happen here)
And yet..
China has had a record bad wheat harvest too.
I bought a lot of rice (+100lbs) and dried beans recently. Combined with spices and frozen vegetables (and ones from the garden once it gets warm) it could be an okay diet for a few months even if shit gets real bad. Most home gardens aren't calorically dense enough to really sustain someone, so stock up on shelf stable calories and keep them dry.
Yeah I just got a ton of frozen stuff today and my wallet is hurting :sadness-abysmal:
I do and I'm sadly not in a situation where I could grow all of it - I do grow lettuce and leafy greens to supplement my diet though
