It seems pretty clear that this thing is here to stay, and the few remaining zero covid countries are gradually loosening restrictions. I’m getting very doomer sitting here realizing this thing is probably not going to ever going away. So how are you adapting to the new reality and living with covid while trying to stay healthy?

So far I'm just wearing a mask and washing my hands a lot and that's worked so far. I haven't caught it yet. This can't go on forever, letting covid spread is destroying our workforce. If anything this seems to be speeding up the fall of capitalism. I feel sick to my stomach to think how many lives were thrown on the fire so some fat cats could profit.

The west seems to be eating itself.

I'm with you. I haven't gotten it yet either, but I know I will eventually. I really just try not to think about it too much and keep wearing my mask / limiting exposure

At this point I have a hard time remembering what it was like pre-pandemic tbh

this isn't the first time this happened the influenza outbreak of 1911 also happened in a capitalist system

Different viruses, different time period with different circumstances. We live in a densely populated, highly mobile world now with travel the easiest it's ever been. Couple that with a virus that spreads faster and has a higher kill rate than influenza ever did and you get our current mess

I don't know it seems to have barely changed anything at a societal level and it's not like the dead are at an unmanageable level. the system is doing fine

The dead are at an unmanageable level, where I live there are so many sick that we can't get our stock because there aren't enough people to deliver it.
