The goal of Christian missionaries, as is all other places, is to pacify the local population, surpress local culture and justify continued colonial occupation, and in extreme cases slavery and extermination. In the lead up to the Boxer Rebellion Christian missionaries were granted extralegality and went so far as to go on serial rapes unpunished, and that's just the stuff natopedia admits to.
