It's from the first few minutes of the tv-show 'upload' :lord-bezos-amused:

I do appreciate Kamala still only being vice president and Amazon just casually predicting the death of the current president

It's even funnier when you consider that in this show, people can be uploaded to the cloud before they die and live on. So they either didn't bother to save him or they silently put him away in amazon-heaven

I don't know when I'll be able to rant about this elsewhere, so I'll do it here. Oprah has been one of the greatest sowers of brainworms in the past century. She's responsible for the careers of Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz, two complete charlatans and actual reactionary scumbags spreading medical misinformation. She stoked the flames of the current antivax movement and helped spread pre-qanon child abduction myths

She was/is a huge proponent of the secret law of attraction gibberish, where you simply imagine what you want and it comes to you. Yeah no shit Oprah, you're immensely wealthy, you get anything you want. Of course it seems like reality bends to your every desire. The gall that book has to compare its message to zen Buddhism or indigenous spiritual practices is horrifyingly offensive to legitimately religious people. I read that dogshit book cover to cover, 90% of it is detailing how to obtain consumer goods, a raise at work, a better golf game, or an overseas vacation. Goodies for American suburban middle class, basically. The final chapters suggest the technique can even be used to cure terminal illnesses, yeah ok.

I hate Oprah so much, genuinely. There's hardly a better representative of American consumer excess and bourgeois delusion than her.

They genuinely believe that all America needs is a fresh lick of gentrification and we'll all live on Sesame Street happily ever after.

I have no other explanation on why they think the way they do.

Sesame Street ain't that great either. Oscar has been homeless for half a century and they don't care because he's a grouch.

reminder that Oprah's neoliberalism in "The Secret" is the same victim blaming fascist lobster mentality as Jordan Peterson acolytes.

The one off joke of "vape lung' showing up in the larger plot felt weird. In general, there's something about it that bothered me. Then again, I have a hard time with under utilized/explored worldbuilding.

I'm already thinking of people I know who would have the appropriate reaction to it
