Idk their family tree but I think their name holds just enough clout that both of them could pursue volatile careers without fearing that they would ever be poor. For instance if my great grandfather's brother's son started a major conglomerate, I'd probably do whatever I wanted and then if it falls through, I'd just leverage my name and get a decent job paying decent money.

If you look at my recent comment history, you'll see that I've actually installed a lot of Reznor warehouse heaters lol.

I mean Brace was at the very least poor when he was a runaway from that horrifying "delinquent" camp he was sent to and abused at. Or when he burned through his money on heroin. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say your assumed social clout of his extended family is not as beneficial or secure as you think given how fucked his life has been. He seems to have not leveraged for a decent job, but rather unionized a brewery. Though his dad has his own clout, being present for the first on air blowjob in at least California radio history.

edit: his dad also sorta got iirc the DA to run off with a young mistress he had introduced him to innocuously, said guy was replaced with the fucker who prevented justice for Harvey Milk. Crazy family web, but not one I would exactly make claims about privilege or whatever about. The expectation of being poor and not having any relatives with social cache is weird in the first place. Fidel would've been dead for sure had he not been the son of a rich landowner. That stuff is all tangential

I think he's on good terms with his parents now, but I think he ran away from home at a young age since they were kind of abusive (well sent him off to an abusive troubled teen camp). It becomes a bit more difficult to leverage your family name if you're the dope addicted runaway. But under most circumstances it definitely leads to some sweet do nothing jobs.
