DemCent would be asking for a vote on this of at least the exec. / steering committees of the locals, I would think. Or at least having a public comment period.

I've always wondered if this existed. Tried googling for it briefly, first I've seen it too

That they were forced to step down prior to this move seems a little weird to me.

Did they step down before or after the vote?

Thanks for the update on that. I was able to log in and have been reading up a bit more on what happened, and it’s at least making a little more sense now.

Yeah they posted a vile homophobic tweet but as you say that was actually someone on the less lib side.

From their statement defending the move:

The BDS Working Group’s failure to comply with the National Committee Criteria, paired with a pattern of misconduct and misuse of an official DSA body by the working group’s leadership, is why the NPC has decided to decharter the working group. We believe that it is imperative for DSA to continue BDS and Palestine solidarity work and are charging the International Committee with this responsibility.

The International Committee has a pretty solid record as of late, so I’m hoping this work really does continue. I was initially suspicious that this was some kind of op designed to push pro-Palestine groups/members out of the DSA, but after reading up on it a bit, it seems more like messy internal drama than anything else. At least this is my current take on the situation.

Yeah, it's probably still good to remain somewhat skeptical of their intentions here, and certainly how they are handling the situation.
