We'll see an overturning of Obergefell by their next session I'm sure.

Jesus Christ. Someone who knows more about these particular assholes, I'm asking honestly: do they want nuclear war? Do they think Russia will just knuckle under if it comes to that? Is there some way they'd stand to benefit from a nuclear exchange? Is it a refusal to admit that the US isn't the global hegemon anymore? Or are they just really that stupid and in denial?
The kind of sane person who has their money tied up in ag corps and for-profit industries that use unpaid prison labor.
I think what's getting lost in translation here is I'm making critiques of individuals, not organizations. I want and expect left orgs like DSA and PSL to have an explicitly anti-imperialist position and announce so to the world.
But individual actors arguing with each other online, especially on reddit, is just jacking off in the wind. It's a demonstration of loyalty to your chosen ideological tribe, which on an individual level is about as meaningful as arguing over whether xbox is better than playstation
Friend that's a lot of words defending reddit arguments, and I really don't have the emotional bandwidth right now to digest all of it. My take on posting is that we're all hopeless wretches addicted to monetized reaction machines and that we should burn web 3.0 to the ground and salt the earth. But if you think getting into doctrinal social media fights is worth your time, then by all means, genuinely, you do you.
I mean arguments are gonna happen no matter what, so you may as well argue the correct anti-imperialist stances I guess.
I just tend to roll my eyes at this weird messianic streak I see in a lot of american leftists who put ideology ahead of material conditions, thinking that if only everyone thought as I do, we could save the world.
Plus I honestly don't think there's ever going to be a coherent mass socialist movement in the U.S. It'll break apart into squabbling rump states first. You may get socialist movements out of those, but that's a different conext entirely.
My point exactly.
Sure, fine, but what does that actually mean in the context of a reddit pissing match, other than a license to get pissed off?
Like go ahead and dunk on them, but let's not pretend it's anything more than different academic camps fighting over things they can't control, for not much better a reason than they're bored and arguing gives them a cathartic outlet for their powerlessness.
Eh... I mean, no offence but this is all aesthetics. All our little sectarian camps and tribes aren't worth a damn because they're first and foremost intellectual / cultural movements. There's no mass working class energy to back any of them up one way or another.
At this point getting mad about the hypothetical strategic relationships between different left-of-center groups in a revolutionary scenario is like getting mad about the power rangers teaming up with the teenage mutant ninja turtles, those revisionists.
I dunno that guy but I think Mao and Deng both said similar things. Fuckin hated the corn man. Allegedly Mao invited Kruschev to Beijing in 1958 to talk shop, but when Kruschev got there Mao was already vibin in the pool. Kruschev couldn't swim but Mao refused to get out, so in goes Kruschev with his floaties on.
Also a possibility.
Nah thanks but this is a pattern. I've literally been on dates where I thought, holy shit I want to fuck them, but then once the time comes I just have an anxiety attack and shut things down. Just more stuff to try and get into therapy for.
Got asked by a girl last night if I wanted to go back to her place, and I panicked and turned her down even though I thought she was really attractive. This is like the third time this has happened. At this point I don't know if I'm some type of asexual or just have repressed trauma giving me a sex phobia.
OP is a guy who's said explicitly in past posts that he doesn't care about the suffering of people in the imperial core. This is not an argument worth having, he already has his :zizek: staked out.
Ngl I thought this was a picture of waffle cut fries at first
So what I'm getting is that everyone's at least a little queer and all modern western gender and sexual identities, cishet or LGBTQ+, are basically consumer identities.
Didn't we already know all this like 50 years ago?
About to turn 52 according to wikipedia
Nah, their ability to do anything is degrading like everything else.
We're all the worst versions of whatever we like to imagine we are.
Not now. Maybe if this happened ten years ago.
But now millenials all have kids and cars and credit scores. They're not going to risk having their family's income and credit dashed in the hopes that maybe enough people they don't know or care about will join them in possibly forcing some unspecified change that the government and employers will then fight every step of the way
