Possums, also referred to as opossums sometimes in the Northern Hemisphere, are cool af. They are marsupials, and serve as nature's gentle pest control. Possums help keep the tick population under control, for example, and are generally non-violent and non-aggressive. Most possums are generally immune to diseases such as rabies. So if you ever get people complaining about possums in your neighborhood, don't call animal control--call people control instead and we'll come send the complainer to possum re-education school. Also, I'm low-key super out of it right now. Been dissociating hard today.

Less manly or whatever I guess. There's a very strong association with capitalism and freedom and cars, even though in reality they're inferior to a well-funded public transport system in almost every way (aside from emergencies and perhaps carrying lots of stuff but the latter can be mitigated).
AFAIK quite a lot of non-electric cars are being phased out of production over the coming decade(s), though I don't know if they'll actually do it or if the fossil fuel industry will prolong their production. And while I don't imagine that all cars that use fossil fuels will be like, collectively towed and scrapped at any point in the near-to-mid future, obviously if they're not produced anymore and they all fall apart over time due to shitty car parts, as well as the phasing out of gas stations supplying fuel as opposed to electric charging stations, then society will become increasingly hostile to their existence. Which is good but it doesn't go far enough of course.
I suppose at a fundamental level, it makes perfect sense for conservatives, the people clinging to a past that never really existed (in the same way that you don't ever actually spend any amount of time as a lone wolf cowboy driving at ludicrous speeds down empty, scenic highways if you live in a city or suburb even if that's all the advertising ever shows - you spend most of it miserable, in traffic, in artificial environments with gray concrete and chain restaurants), to not want to move to an electric car future. They will either be dragged kicking and screaming like petulant children into the future like in most real-life situations, or they'll enforce a fascist society where everything is locked in 2016's zeitgeist and then we'll all die in boiling seawater and climate wars. Remains to be seen.
I think it's going to be this. So long as neoliberalism can keep the chud hogs pacified with faux-2016-populism and MAGA and keep bazinga brained liberals strung along with hopes of "oh yeah, we'll fix climate change, uhh outlaw plastic bags by 2080!" we can keep kicking the can down the road.
