Apparently the latest thing is diversity in aviation. The disconnect between chuds and reality is truly something to behold. Someone sent me a Jimmy Dore (lmao) clip about le ebil DEI initiatives turning aviation into madmax (Mr. Dore has also progressed to the "shilling for precious metal retirement funds" stage of chud talk show host). His dumbass cohost, with his brain leaking out his ears, got angry about how everyone "needs to pass the test". As someone who has been administering said test(s), it is just a stunning showcase of the semi-sentient state of mind he must constantly occupy.
It's amazing that it needs to be said, but -
1. Everyone needs to pass the test. Black people need to take the same tests as everyone else. Not a single person is exempt from this. Black pilots perform to the same standards as everyone else. By the time they're in the cockpit of an airliner, they've passed at least 8 separate tests (not including written exams).
2. Yes, they can cut you some slack on the tests. No, it's not a diversity thing. Most examiners are old white guys with one foot in the grave. Any leniency towards a black applicant is 100% going to be given to everyone else. If you are a member of a marginalized group you are far less likely to be receiving the positive aspects of examiner discretion, however.
3. Sometimes unqualified people slip through the cracks. This is also not a black people thing. Remember the Atlas Air fiasco? The lying on applications and being mercy passed? Happens not unfrequently, mostly from white guys though. Didn't see the same outrage when Capt. Winslow of the Colgan Air flight in 2009 lied about failing previous tests and being constantly mercy-passed.
4. No the test is not "easy". It's not a DMV test where you have to kill somebody to fail. You have to actually know how to fly the plane. Take a look for yourself.
5. Failing a test is obviously not good, but about half of people have failed at least 1. A subsequent pass means you learned from your mistakes and are now qualified. Outrage about hiring people with a "history of failure" is mostly histrionics.
6. Again, no person is exempt from testing requirements. There is no slack given to black applicants that isn't given to others.
There is literally no valid outrage material here. It's amazing what they come up with. I guess consulting people actually involved would be too much work.
Feel free to comment with any other chud outrage regarding aviation and I'll be happy to respond after being flabbergasted by the complete lack of research involved.
Diversity is when you don't install all the bolts in the plane and the more bolts you don't install the more diverse it is
Diversity in foot pounds of torque applied
