literally just happened. was on a thread talking about a Romani teenage girl who was attacked by the ukrainian military and when i tried to sort the comments different the board was suddenly quarantined.

    What was wrong with the old fig leaf of "calls for violence" or "shocking content" or whatever like what they did for FullCommunism or the old cth sub? It's not even an attempt to hide, this basically says don't go against the western narrative - it's just shy of explicitly saying that. I think they easily could've stuck to the old fig leaf what the fuck is the deal with that, like there was plenty of gzd posters happy about the reddit legion getting missiled.

      They can't ban GZD for violence while VolunteersForUkraine is literally mobilizing international brigades. They can't ban GZD for posting shocking content because posting shocking videos of Russian atrocities is a key part of the war propaganda.

      So they do it for some nickel and dime bullshit.

      i'm actually shocked it took the people in charge this long to ban it. I think the current crisis with ukraine made them pay attention. They probably were under the impression that they had scrubbed the site of undesirables until a new crisis emerged.
