But when Ukraine loses this, won't there be a dissonance from what was promised vs what happened? People just going "what the fuck was all that horseshit then?"

This makes me think that a great deal of people are operating with the psychological equivalent of a lobotomy

Americans have zero memory of being lied to. They also dont even care if they're lied to half of the time.

that's what you get when you channel multi-layered propaganda at a population from every angle in the information age. the ability to not only plant an idea in someone's head, but to convince them that it was their idea in the first place. when russia achieves their objectives in this war the western narrative is going to be "yeah but putler has egg on his face and had to commit atrocities to win" as though that has a material impact on the outcome

The enemy is both strong and weak. “By a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak.”

Umberto Eco says it all. Russia is very weak, but if they win, it's because YOU failed them with your lack of support. OR just because of dastardly savage Russian sneakiness and cowardly tactics!

Most people aren't plugged into this stuff like us freaks, they get it ambiently. This means that in 6 months they don't remember any of it. Hell don't something like 40% of people still think saddam hussein did 911?
