    Even going back thousands of years, sports and the creation of warriors has been a thing. They literally just shooting themselves in the foot.

    Participating in sports and watching sports are very different in this regard. Sitting down with a beer to watch football is no different than sitting down with a beer go watch reality TV.

    That's why the USSR promoted popular participation in sports with things like factory sports teams and contests, rather than just broadcasting the spectacle for money.

      Yeah but it's both though. Combat sports definitely lean into fashy stuff, Fight Club depicts some fascists weaponising this quite well. Azov has used fight clubs to build the culture and mentality they want. It's been a good tool for them.

        There's nothing inherently fascist about combat sports. The lack of leftist combat sports clubs is a failing of the left, not an indictment of the sports.

        There are worse skills for a leftist to learn than fighting.
