Jada is suffering from an auto immune disease and that's why she lost hair. Will Smith is perfectly within his right to slap Chris Rock for that extremely tasteless joke. I would have punch him multiple times.

Oh, yeah, that's a good reason to be that upset then. If it was just a haircut choice then, it's tasteless and mean but not worth hitting someone about, that makes a big difference.

I am fine with even the tiniest excuse to deck a rich person. They farted in your vicinity? That's a paddlin

Difficult to tell really, I guess it depends on the motivation as it could equally be sticking up for a loved one which is a good thing to do - even if maybe clocking someone wasn't the best way to go about it.

It’s literally this lol. I mean I don’t care either way cause it was just funny and none of them will ever give a shit about what any of us think. But this is literally no different than starting school fights because someone said your mom was fat. Hell, many of the kids I knew would try to fight you if you simply said “your [family member]” before you could finish your sentence

This was definitely a thing at my school! Just saying someone's parents first name was taken as an insult. I didn't understand this at all when I transferred there so it washed over me.

You would punch someone for making a tasteless joke?

You know you can just like walk away, right?

Because he made a joke about her bald head? If anything it was Regina Hall’s joke that could be seen as ‘sexist’ because it implied Will’s wife had him on a leash lol

Was this at the beginning? Because all I’m seeing is him saying she looked like GI Jan. He made a joke about a different couple being nominated on the same night if that’s what you mean. I didn’t watch the whole thing so might’ve missed it. But even then he clearly didn’t slap him over jokes about her career

But that’s the relevant part. You’re justifying slapping a man because of something he said at the beginning of the show?

Yeah... he was saying that the other couple is wishing will smith wins so they don’t have to fight about the winner.

Are you saying Chris Rock was joking about her career because he said the couple wished Will won and not Jada? Even though she’s not the one being nominated?

"ironic" nazis making "dark humor" jokes deserve to be hit

There are plenty of cases where it's good to hit people for their jokes

I replied before I really finished it. I just meant that sometimes people deserve to be hit for being shit heads with their "jokes"

And yes I believe this is one. Making jokes about someone's appearance on live television without being their best friend is pretty damn rude

I think that makes it really tasteless and rude but i don't see what slapping him accomplished. Chris Rock will probably be joking about this forever so it definitely won't stop the jokes

If it involved my partner's auto immune disease that might be enough. That's probably a pretty touchy subject

If someone goes up to me and says "haha your mother is dying from MS" I'd fucking stab them

Yeah I mean it's one of those cases where yeah, there might have been a better way to handle it but I also completely do not blame him in the least for punching him.
