The dark descent is the definitive collection of short story horror imo

Bozos has it cheaper if you’re ok buying from there. The thing is like a thousand pages so you’ll get your moneys worth

both are great, but knifepoint is one of my favorites on account of how beautiful the stories are, I don't know if it's the narration, but it has this wistful quality that's totally unique

Seriously! Tthat and the fact that you almost never get the whole picture at the end, forcing you to draw your own conclusions with only a tiny amount of very weird information, makes it feel so much more true somehow. I've probably listened to the one about the Walking People 30 times now

Thomas Ligotti is goated, but I also enjoy the much more casually written stories of MJ Pack. Pretty much every tale in her Certain Dark Things collection is a banger iirc, with some very unique settings
