Of course it is. He's the villain and he's a fanatical goddamn lunatic. Like...part of me feels like people are disappointed in that fact because they wanted their thicc purple space daddy to make a "logical", "rational" argument in favor of genocide.

I imagine it's mostly backlash to the "Thanos did nothing wrong" meme, which was around for a while after the release of the movie.
