Quick tangent but one of the biggest things I hate about gamers is when they can identify the problems with the video game industry and capitalism, but instead of naming it that they blame it on consumerism instead. I can't even tell you guys how much I hate that word. Just say capitalism! Why are we bullshitting around
But if they say capitalism instead of consumerism they would have to confront the fact that the system is broken, their lives are enslaved, and they have no autonomy. But those don't feel good to think about so consumerism is the copium.
The age of fire is capitalism. Jeff Bezos is Gravelord Nito, Elon Musk is Seath, I dunno Rupert Murdoch is the furtive pigmy? And even if you beat all of them and become the king of capitalism, you will just perpetuate the eternal cycle of suffering. As long as you're replacing lords with more lords, you'll lead the world to it's ruinous end, trudging through the ashes all alone.
Reminds me of the hbomberguy video on CAD, where they talk about how gamers will say "X executive at Y company is evil!" Without understanding why market incentives perpetuate a system where artistic value is of secondary importance to profitability
